Tender Absence 2023 marked a week of exchange and (un)learning: 13 artists came together in the Glocal Class residency program to discuss, learn from each other, and work together.
In February 2023, Tender Absence invited 13 artists from Peru, Tasmania, Chile, the USA, Venezuela, Iran, Germany, Russia, Belgium, Uganda, Nigeria, and India to work and reflect together on "Glocality" in the specially created Tender Absence time zone. The "Glocal Class" focused on working with local realities and environments, using the digital space as a platform for artistic experiments. The artists explored the following questions: How can we produce beyond streams and Zoom meetings? Who are the people we address on the internet? How can we globally convey our local realities without instrumentalizing them?
The results were presented in a 24-hour tour. In the collaborative, hybrid exhibition, the artists showcase their works, give lectures, and invite the audience to navigate through the immersive environment with their own avatar.
Further information on the program (tour) can be found on the Tender Absence website.
