Since the founding of the civil society initiative Duisburg 1984 in 2018 – which is dedicated to the political reappraisal and commemoration of the racist arson attack of 26 August 1984 in Duisburg – Peira has been involved in several projects for a critical culture of remembrance and the reappraisal of right-wing, racist violence in Duisburg, the Ruhr region and beyond.
The documentary "Sisterqueens" (Clara Stella Hüneke, 2024) comes to Berliner Ratschlag für Demokratie. After the screening, Gonca Monypenny, education speaker at „Die Freiheit, die ich meine” von Gesicht Zeigen!, and Alma (Peira) will discuss questions about emotional education and art as an outlet for political emancipation. Do you have an idea for an art education project and would like to learn how to develop a concept and apply for funding? We offer a two-day training course at the Brücke-Museum on how to apply for funding, financial planning and legal forms. Participants have time to develop an educational concept. A selected concept will later be realized in the Brücke-Museum.
The workshop is primarily aimed at artists or artists with a history of migration. If there is still capacity, freelancers without a history of migration can also take part.
Date: April 11 and May 16, 1-6 p.m. (two-day training course)
